Saved Views
Let users save a combination of filters, sorting and columns as a named view they and their team can return to.

01The problem
Power users rebuild the same filtered list every morning: overdue EU invoices over $5,000, sorted by due date, with the owner column visible. Without saved views, that's six clicks a day. With poorly designed ones, a teammate edits a shared view and everyone's dashboard silently changes.
02When to use
Use when
- Lists with several filters, sorting and column options
- Teams that share standard working lists
- Recurring workflows: weekly reviews, daily queues
Avoid when
- Lists with one or two filters — quick filters are enough.
03Recommended UX
Statecraft recommendation
Show views as tabs or a menu above the list, make every view capture filters, sort and columns, and mark a view as edited the moment the user changes it — offering Save, Save as new and Revert.
04Desktop behaviour
On desktop, views sit as tabs above the toolbar with an overflow menu, and the edited state appears inline next to the active view.
Desktop rules
- Views as tabs (up to ~5) with a “Views ▾” menu for the rest, grouped Personal / Shared.
- Edited marker: “Overdue EU · Edited — Save · Save as new · Revert”.
- Views capture filters, sort, columns, grouping and page size.
- Shared views show owner; only owners or admins overwrite.
05Mobile behaviour
On mobile, views are a picker at the top of the list. Creating views is mostly a desktop task.
Mobile rules
