Comments
Let people discuss work where it happens — on the record or the exact part of it — with mentions, threads and resolution.

01The problem
Without comments in the product, discussion about a record happens in chat and email, disconnected from the thing it's about and lost to anyone who joins later. With comments that don't thread, mention or resolve, records accumulate long, flat conversations where open questions are indistinguishable from settled ones.
02When to use
Use when
- Records several people work on: deals, tickets, invoices, designs
- Documents and specs that need review
- Approval and review workflows
Avoid when
- Real-time conversation unrelated to a specific record — that's chat.
- Single-user tools.
03Recommended UX
Statecraft recommendation
Attach comments to the record — or to a specific field, line or region when precision matters — support one level of replies, @mentions that notify, and Resolve for threads that are settled.
04Desktop behaviour
On desktop, comments sit in a side panel or alongside the content, with anchored threads aligned to what they reference.
Desktop rules
- Composer at the top or bottom of the panel, consistently; Cmd/Ctrl+Enter to send.
- @mention autocomplete limited to people with access, with a warning for those without.
- Threads show author, time, replies and a Resolve action.
- Filter: Open / Resolved / All, with open counts.
05Mobile behaviour
On mobile, comments open as a full-height sheet with the composer pinned above the keyboard.
Mobile rules
3 mobile rules are included in Pro.
